Barbados Private Hospital

Generally, the residents of Barbados are healthy. However, that doesnt mean that they do not require the presence of a health care system in the country. The country of Barbados currently enjoys two systems of health care. The public system is one that provides free service to everyone. The private system, on the other hand, is a more costly type of health care. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the largest public hospital located within Barbados capital city, Bridgetown. There are other five public hospitals in various parts of Barbados that offer hospital services for free. Due to the volume of patients and the complimentary services, treatments are sometimes slow in the public hospitals. Because of this, medical supplies ran out once in a while. Thus, some patients seek treatments in health clinics, or what are referred to as polyclinics. Polyclinics though are only capable of providing treatments for minor illnesses or injuries, and are only focused on services for out-patients. But even though most residents make use of the public system of health care, Barbados is home to a thriving private system. The country has several private health establishments offering health care to people who have the money to pay for it. While there are a lot of private clinics on the island, the only Barbados private hospital is the Bayview Hospital. It is conveniently within the capital city, and is near the major hotels. The Barbados private hospital is home to seven private rooms and four semi-private ones. It was conceived in the hope of being able to provide the best medical care and has been offering quality services to its patients since 1989. The rooms in the Barbados private hospital are created to give a home away from home environment to all of its patients. Each private room is equipped with cable television and its own bathroom. The semi-private rooms enjoy spacious shared accommodation. Every room is provided with an air conditioning unit and a ceiling fan. The services rendered in the Barbados private hospital may be limited to those who can afford private medical care. However, the country has provided a health plan covering the necessary health care and drugs of those citizens beyond 65 years old. Those who are not entitled to avail of this would have to pay for medical treatments and prescription drugs. Fortunately though, several people have obtained medical insurance from private companies which helps subsidize costs of treatment and medication. Barbados may simply be a small speck on the world map, but it has emphasized its health care and has remained as the top destination for people who are recuperating from medical condition.
